Bulletin n. 6935
14/02/2024 - 09:45
The number of VLP seismic events (standard values 5-12) is high, 12.05 events/hour.
The amplitude of seismic tremor is medium.
The infrasonic activity is medium. The acoustic pressure of explosions is medium, 1.4 bar (standard values <1 bar). The amplitude of puffing is low, ~30 mbar.
Tiltmeters analysis does not show any significant deformation of the volcano edifice
Thermal activity of explosive events is low. The number of thermal transients in the NE sector of the crater (standard = 100) is low, 20. The amplitude of thermal transients is low, 5 ºF. Exit velocity of pyroclasts, estimated through thermal camera analysis, is low, 10 m/s.
MODIS thermal anomalies are low: 2 MW (01:12 UTC yesterday).
Rockfall activity is low. The number of rockfalls is 2 per day.
SO2 flux in the NE sector of the crater terrace is low, 40 t/d
CO2 flux based on the C/S is not available
Indice di Attività Vulcanica: medium
- Seismic (VLP) rate HIGH
- Seismic tremor MEDIUM
- Puffing LOW
- Acustic pression of explosions MEDIUM
- Thermal activity LOW
- SO2 flux LOW
- CO2 flux not available
- Rockfall activity LOW
The volcanic activity is characterized by strombolian explosions and degassing activity (puffing) located at both crater sectors (NE and SW). The number of VLP events shows HIGH values (12.05 events/hour). Infrasonic activity is characterized by explosions from MEDIUM to HIGH pressure (up to 1.4 bar at NE crater) and puffing with MEDIUM amplitude (about 20 mbar). Seismic tremor values are MEDIUM. Thermal activity at the craters is LOW. MODIS/VIIRS images show LOW level in thermal anomalies. The SO2 flux shows a stable LOW values (40 t/d). No new measures of CO2 flux are available. Rockfall activity retrieved by seismic data is LOW (2 events). The volcanic activity index is MEDIUM. NB: Thermal and Infrasonic values could be underestimated due cloud cover.
