Bulletin n. 7067
26/06/2024 - 08:42
The number of VLP seismic events (standard values 5-12) is high, 19.3 events/hour.
The amplitude of seismic tremor is high.
The infrasonic activity is high. The acoustic pressure of explosions is high, 2.5 bar (standard values <1 bar). The amplitude of puffing is medium, ~80 mbar.
Tiltmeters analysis does not show any significant deformation of the volcano edifice
Thermal activity of explosive events is high. The number of thermal transients in the NE sector of the crater (standard = 100) is high, 717. The amplitude of thermal transients is low, 10 ºF. Exit velocity of pyroclasts, estimated through thermal camera analysis, is low, 15 m/s.
MODIS thermal anomalies are medium: 18 MW (12:40 UTC yesterday).
Rockfall activity: no rockfalls detected.
SO2 flux in the NE sector of the crater terrace is medium, 113 t/d
CO2 flux based on the C/S is not available
Indice di Attività Vulcanica: high
- Seismic (VLP) rate HIGH
- Seismic tremor HIGH
- Puffing MEDIUM
- Acustic pression of explosions HIGH
- Thermal activity HIGH
- SO2 flux MEDIUM
- CO2 flux not available
- Rockfall activity LOW
The volcanic activity is generally characterized by strombolian explosions and puffing located at NE crater sector. In the last 24h, the Stromboli volcano showed an HIGH degassing activity (puffing 80 mbar), associated to spattering activity located at NE crater. The pressure of the explosions is VERY HIGH (max acoustic pressure 2.5 bar). The number of thermal transients by thermal cameras is HIGH, with LOW amplitude and LOW exit velocity. The volcanic tremor showed HIGH values in the last 24h. The number of VLP events shows HIGH values (19.3 events/hour). MODIS/VIIRS images showed MEDIUM thermal anomalies (max 18 MW), measured the 25/06 at 12:40 UTC. The SO2 flux measured at the NE crater sector is MEDIUM (113 t/d). No new CO2 flux data are available. The rockfall activity is not evaluable. The volcanic activity index is HIGH.
