Bulletin n. 7068

27/06/2024 - 08:24

The number of VLP seismic events (standard values 5-12) is high, 19.1 events/hour.

The amplitude of seismic tremor is high.

The infrasonic activity is high. The acoustic pressure of explosions is medium, 1.76 bar (standard values <1 bar). The amplitude of puffing is medium, ~60 mbar.

Tiltmeters analysis does not show any significant deformation of the volcano edifice

Thermal activity of explosive events is high. The number of thermal transients in the NE sector of the crater (standard = 100) is high, 416. The amplitude of thermal transients is low, 10 ºF. Exit velocity of pyroclasts, estimated through thermal camera analysis, is medium, 20 m/s.

MODIS thermal anomalies are low: 4 MW (00:54 UTC yesterday).

Rockfall activity: no rockfalls detected.

SO2 flux in the NE sector of the crater terrace is medium, 96 t/d

CO2 flux based on the C/S of 3.56 mesured at 20:20 UTC on 2024/06/26 is medium, 454 t/d

Indice di Attività Vulcanica: high

  • Seismic (VLP) rate HIGH
  • Seismic tremor HIGH
  • Puffing MEDIUM
  • Acustic pression of explosions MEDIUM
  • Thermal activity HIGH
  • SO2 flux MEDIUM
  • CO2 flux MEDIUM
  • Rockfall activity LOW

The volcanic activity is generally characterized by strombolian explosions and puffing located at NE crater sector. In the last 24h, the Stromboli volcano showed an HIGH degassing activity (puffing 60 mbar), associated to spattering activity located at NE crater. The pressure of the explosions is HIGH (max acoustic pressure 1.7 bar). The number of thermal transients by thermal cameras is HIGH, with LOW amplitude and MEDIUM exit velocity. The volcanic tremor showed HIGH values in the last 24h. The number of VLP events shows HIGH values (19.1 events/hour). MODIS/VIIRS images showed LOW thermal anomalies (max 4 MW), measured the 26/06 at 00:54 UTC. The SO2 flux measured at the NE crater sector is MEDIUM (96 t/d). CO2 flux show MEDIUM values (454 t/d), based on a C/S ratio of 3.56 measured the 26/06 at 20:20 UTC. The rockfall activity is not evaluable. The volcanic activity index is HIGH.
