Bulletin n. 7083
12/07/2024 - 10:17
The number of VLP seismic events (standard values 5-12) is medium, 11 events/hour.
The amplitude of seismic tremor is medium.
The infrasonic activity is low. The acoustic pressure of explosions is very high, 7.82 bar (standard values <1 bar). The amplitude of puffing is low, ~0 mbar.
Tiltmeters analysis has recorded a deformation of 9.97 microrad on 11/07/2024 at 12:08 UTC, consistent with a paroxysmal explosion
Thermal activity of explosive events is low. The number of thermal transients in the NE sector of the crater (standard = 100) is low, 5. The amplitude of thermal transients is low, 12 ºF. Exit velocity of pyroclasts, estimated through thermal camera analysis, is medium, 26 m/s.
MODIS thermal anomalies are high: 384 MW (08:45 UTC yesterday).
Rockfall activity is high. The number of rockfalls is 46 per day.
SO2 flux in the NE sector of the crater terrace is very high, 916 t/d
CO2 flux based on the C/S of 3.81 mesured at 07:20 UTC on 2024/07/12 is very high, 2358 t/d
Indice di Attività Vulcanica: very high

The monitoring network has recorded a paroxysmal explosion at 12:08 UTC of yesterday, associated with a deformation of circa 9.97 microrad at the OHO tiltmeter and a seismic signal in the VLP band with an amplitude of 7.7 x 10-4 m. The explosion was sourced from below the NE crater sector at an elevation of approximately 650 m a.s.l. In the last 24h, volcanic activity is characterized by lava flows emitted from vents located at about 500 m a.s.l. Degassing activity and pressure of the explosions are absent except for the paroxysmal event that shows a very high pressure. The volcanic tremor shows MEDIUM values. The number of VLP events shows MEDIUM values (11 events/hour). Thermal activity is low except for the values associated with the paroxysmal event that show MEDIUM exit velocities. MODIS/VIIRS images showed HIGH thermal anomalies (max 384 MW). SO2 flux is VERY HIGH (916 t/d). CO2 flux, based on the C/S ratio of 3.81 measured on 12/07/2024 at 07:20 UTC, is VERY HIGH (2358 t/d). The rockfall activity is HIGH (VERY HIGH number of events characterized by LOW and MEDIUM pseudo-volume associated). The volcanic activity index is VERY HIGH.
