Bulletin n. 7103
01/08/2024 - 10:26
The number of VLP seismic events (standard values 5-12) is medium, 9 events/hour.
The amplitude of seismic tremor is medium.
The infrasonic activity is medium. The acoustic pressure of explosions is low, 0.7 bar (standard values <1 bar). The amplitude of puffing is low, ~18 mbar.
Tiltmeters analysis does not show any significant deformation of the volcano edifice
Thermal activity of explosive events is low. The number of thermal transients in the NE sector of the crater(standard = 100) is not available. The amplitude of thermal transients is not available. Exit velocity of pyroclasts, estimated through thermal camera analysis, is not available.
MODIS thermal anomalies are low: 1 MW (21:10 UTC yesterday).
Rockfall activity is very high. The number of rockfalls is 50 per day.
SO2 flux in the NE sector of the crater terrace is high, 216 t/d
CO2 flux based on the C/S of 25.6 mesured at 01:20 UTC on 2024/08/01 is very high, 5836 t/d
Indice di Attività Vulcanica: high
- Seismic (VLP) rate MEDIUM
- Seismic tremor MEDIUM
- Puffing LOW
- Acustic pression of explosions LOW
- Thermal activity LOW
- SO2 flux HIGH
- CO2 flux VERY HIGH
- Rockfall activity VERY HIGH
The volcanic activity is generally characterized by degassing activity and few explosions with ash located at the new NE crater sector. Since yesterday July 31st the monitoring network records continuous puffing again. In the last 24h, the Stromboli volcano showed a LOW degassing activity (puffing with values of about 18 mbar). The explosive activity is MEDIUM (few explosion with max acoustic pressure 0.7 bar). The volcanic tremor shows MEDIUM values with an increasing trend. The number of VLP events showed MEDIUM values (9.0 events/hour with low amplitude). MODIS/VIIRS images showed LOW thermal anomalies (max 1 MW). SO2 flux shows HIGH values (last:216 t/d recorded on the 01/07/2024), CO2 flux shows VERY HIGH values (last: 5836 t/d based on C/S value of 25.6 recorded on the 01/08/2024). The rockfall activity is VERY HIGH (50 events detected with LOW to MEDIUM pseudo-volumes associated). The volcanic activity index is HIGH.
