Bulletin n. 7133
31/08/2024 - 08:06
The number of VLP seismic events (standard values 5-12) is medium, 9.1 events/hour.
The amplitude of seismic tremor is medium.
The infrasonic activity is very high. The acoustic pressure of explosions is high, 2.45 bar (standard values <1 bar). The amplitude of puffing is high, ~100 mbar.
Tiltmeters analysis does not show any significant deformation of the volcano edifice
Thermal activity of explosive events is not available. The number of thermal transients in the NE sector of the crater(standard = 100) is not available. The amplitude of thermal transients is not available. Exit velocity of pyroclasts, estimated through thermal camera analysis, is not available.
MODIS thermal anomalies are high: 1035 MW (13:05 UTC yesterday).
Rockfall activity is high. The number of rockfalls is 12 per day.
SO2 flux in the NE sector of the crater terrace is not available
CO2 flux based on the C/S is not available
Indice di Attività Vulcanica: high
- Seismic (VLP) rate MEDIUM

- CO2 flux not available
- Rockfall activity HIGH
The volcanic activity is generally characterized by strombolian explosions with HIGH pressure (max 2.45 bar) and mainly located at the NE crater sector. Degassing (puffing/spattering), located at the NE crater sector, is characterized by HIGH pressure values (about 100 mbar). The seismic tremor is HIGH, with temporary peaks to VERY HIGH values. An overflow event occurred from NE crater sector, fed by spattering activity, started at 10:40 UTC, with 0.15 urad of deflation associated, fed by ca. 3 m3/s of effusive rates. The number of VLP events is MEDIUM (9.1 events/hour). The number of explosions detected by thermal camera is not available for technical reasons. MODIS/VIIRS thermal data show HIGH thermal anomalies (1053 MW), recorded the 30th August at 13:05 UTC. SO2 flux was not evaluated. CO2 was not evaluated. The rockfall activity is HIGH (12 events detected with LOW to MEDIUM pseudo-volumes associated). The volcanic activity index is HIGH.
