Bulletin n. 7164
01/10/2024 - 10:20
The number of VLP seismic events (standard values 5-12) is medium, 11.2 events/hour.
The amplitude of seismic tremor is high.
The infrasonic activity is high. The acoustic pressure of explosions is low, 0.82 bar (standard values <1 bar). The amplitude of puffing is high, ~132 mbar.
Tiltmeters analysis shows a deflation of circa 0.12 microrad at 01:35 UTC
Thermal activity of explosive events is not available. The number of thermal transients in the NE sector of the crater(standard = 100) is not available. The amplitude of thermal transients is not available. Exit velocity of pyroclasts, estimated through thermal camera analysis, is not available.
MODIS thermal anomalies are high: 674 MW (02:15 UTC yesterday).
Rockfall activity is high. The number of rockfalls is 13 per day.
SO2 flux in the NE sector of the crater terrace is medium, 117 t/d
CO2 flux based on the C/S of 12.14 mesured at 05:25 UTC on 2024/10/01 is high, 2002 t/d
Indice di Attività Vulcanica: high
- Seismic (VLP) rate MEDIUM

- SO2 flux MEDIUM
- CO2 flux HIGH
- Rockfall activity HIGH
The monitoring network records a deformation of circa 0.12 microrad at 1:35 UTC, associated with a lava overflow. Effusive activity was preceded by an increase in volcanic tremor and in spattering activity at the NE crater sector. In the last 24h, the Stromboli volcano shows Strombolian explosions and puffing, mainly located at the NE crater sector. Degassing activity shows VERY HIGH values (puffing 132 mbar) and the pressure of the explosions is MEDIUM (max acoustic pressure 0.82 bar). The thermal activity cannot be evaluated due to technical problems. The volcanic tremor shows HIGH values. The number of VLP events is MEDIUM (11.2 events/hour). MODIS and VIIRS satellite images show HIGH thermal anomalies (674 MW). The SO2 flux is MEDIUM (117 t/d). The CO2 flux, based on the C/S ratio of 12.14 measured on 01/10/2024 at 05:25 UTC, is HIGH (2002 t/d). The rockfall activity is HIGH (13 events detected in the last 24h, with LOW to VERY HIGH seismic pseudo-volumes involved). The volcanic activity index is HIGH.
