Bulletin n. 7525
09/10/2025 - 07:26
The number of VLP seismic events (standard values 5-12) is high, 12.6 events/hour.
The amplitude of seismic tremor is high.
The infrasonic activity is medium. The acoustic pressure of explosions is medium, 1.13 bar (standard values <1 bar). The amplitude of puffing is medium, ~50 mbar.
Tiltmeters analysis does not show any significant deformation of the volcano edifice
Thermal activity of explosive events is low. The number of thermal transients in the NE sector of the crater(standard = 100) is not available. The amplitude of thermal transients is not available. Exit velocity of pyroclasts, estimated through thermal camera analysis, is not available.
MODIS thermal anomalies are low: 5 MW (12:00 UTC yesterday).
Rockfall activity is low. The number of rockfalls is 2 per day.
SO2 flux in the NE sector of the crater terrace is low, 49 t/d
CO2 flux based on the C/S is not available
Indice di Attività Vulcanica: medium
- Seismic (VLP) rate HIGH
- Seismic tremor HIGH
- Puffing MEDIUM
- Acustic pression of explosions MEDIUM
- Thermal activity LOW
- SO2 flux LOW
- CO2 flux not available
- Rockfall activity LOW
The volcanic activity is generally characterized by strombolian explosions located at the NE and SW crater sectors and degassing (puffing/spattering) located at NE, C and SW crater sectors. Spattering is characterized by HIGH values of pressure and this activity is correlated with seismic tremor characterized by HIGH values In the last 24h, the Stromboli volcano showed a HIGH degassing activity (puffing/spattering with values of about 50 mbar). The explosive activity is HIGH (max acoustic pressure 1.1 bar). The volcanic tremor shows HIGH values. The number of VLP events shows HIGH values (12.6 events/hour). MODIS/VIIRS thermal data shows LOW thermal anomalies (max 5 MW). SO2 flux shows LOW values (last: 49 t/d recorded on the 09/10/2025), CO2 flux shows no new data (last: 445 t/d based on C/S value of 10.19 recorded on the 05/10/2025). The rockfall activity is LOW (n.2 events detected with LOW to MEDIUM pseudo-volumes associated). The volcanic activity index is MEDIUM. (NB the recorded data are conditioned by the adverse weather conditions: strong wind)
