Bulletin n. 7659

26/02/2026 - 09:58

The number of VLP seismic events (standard values 5-12) is medium, 10.2 events/hour.

The amplitude of seismic tremor is high.

The infrasonic activity is high. The acoustic pressure of explosions is very high, 2.04 bar (standard values <1 bar). The amplitude of puffing is high, ~50 mbar.

Tiltmeters analysis does not show any significant deformation of the volcano edifice

Thermal activity of explosive events is not available. The number of thermal transients in the NE sector of the crater(standard = 100) is not available. The amplitude of thermal transients is not available. Exit velocity of pyroclasts, estimated through thermal camera analysis, is not available.

MODIS thermal anomalies are medium: 60 MW (13:35 UTC yesterday).

Rockfall activity is high. The number of rockfalls is 12 per day.

SO2 flux in the NE sector of the crater terrace is low, 43 t/d

CO2 flux based on the C/S is not available

Indice di Attività Vulcanica: medium

  • Seismic (VLP) rate MEDIUM
  • Seismic tremor HIGH
  • Puffing HIGH
  • Acustic pression of explosions VERY HIGH
  • Thermal activity NOT AVAILABLE
  • SO2 flux LOW
  • CO2 flux not available
  • Rockfall activity HIGH

In the last 24h, Stromboli volcano showed HIGH degassing activity (puffing/spattering values of about 50 mbar) located mainly in the SW sector, associated with VERY HIGH explosive activity (max. acoustic pressure 2.04 bar), located mainly in the NE sector. The volcanic tremor has HIGH values. The number of VLP events is MEDIUM (10.2 events/hour). MODIS and VIIRS satellite images show MEDIUM thermal anomalies (60 MW). SO2 flux is LOW (43 t/d). No new CO2 flux data are available. The number of rockfalls is MEDIUM, with 12 events detected in the past 24h. The volcanic activity index is MEDIUM.
